Okta Multi-Factor Authentication and Your Options

Multi-Factor authentication provides you with another level of authentication beyond a username and a password and adds an additional layer of security to our environment. 

  • Are you setting up after a reset or for the first time?

  • Are you looking to change an existing MFA Method?

    • Visit https://hireology.okta.com/enduser/settings and click "Edit Profile" at the top right and follow the prompts.
    • Locate the "Security Methods" section and choose the type of authentication you'll want to set up.

  • Okta Verify for macOS/Okta FastPass

    • This can only be registered via the "Sign in with Okta FastPass" button on the login page or by manually adding an account from within the Okta Verify app on a register Hireology computer. See this help article for more in depth instructions: Setting Up the macOS Okta Verify app

Verification Options

    • Okta Verify for macOS (Installed on all Hireology computers) 

      • This method has to be added as an additional with one of the options below. It cannot be your only available method. 

    • Okta Verify- iOS App - Android App

      • You'll need to download the respective app for your smartphone. The Okta Verify app allows you verify your account directly on your smartphone by tapping on a notification. This is by far the easiest way to secure your Okta account.

    • Token Based (TOTP) - Google Authenticator/1Password

      • Choose this method if you'd like to use 1Password or Google Authenticator. You'll be instructed to set up your Authenticator App with the code that Okta generates. Your app then house the rotating six digit number you'll need to gain access to your Okta account.
